Catherine Zeta-Jones has checks into a health care facility’ to treat Bipolar II disorder
According to People magazine, Zeta-Jones, 43, has “proactively checked into a health care facility.”
Zeta, revealed in 2011 that she has Bipolar II, which can cause episodes of depression lasting days and sometimes intense mood swings.”This is a disorder that affects millions of people, and I am one of them,” Zeta-Jones told People mag at the time. “If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently, and there is no shame in seeking help.”
back in April of 2011, she also revealed she was undergoing treatment at a Connecticut hospital, claiming the stress of her husband Michael Douglas’s throat cancer battle as a source of depression and anxiety.
“After Michael had his cancer, and I had my issues, I had to like stop for a moment,” she said on “Good Morning America” last year. According to reports,Zeta-Jones is slated to complete another 30-day treatment program. A source close to the actress said her decision to check into a facility is simply “maintenance,” instead of reactionary or sudden.” She checked into treatment on Monday and is expected to complete a 30-day program.
